This is a portrait of Tammy Faye Messner which was unveiled at the reception for Ins & Outs: A Revival at BoMA: The Bar of Modern Art in Columbus, OH on Friday, Oct. 5th. It was then auctioned at the LAF With Tammy Memorial Celebration hosted by Joe Spotts, her manager, at his home in Palm Springs attended by Larry King, Charlene Tilton, Ron Jeremy and Cloris Leachman. I presented the painting to the group and explained why Tammy had become an inspiration to me. In my opinion, she demonstrated inspirational courage and surprising depth throughout her colorful life, from her open-armed embrace of those rejected by her evangelical peers to the self-deprecating humor that lasted until the end.
