What a joy it has been to paint a mural for the staff and patients at Coastal Kids Home Care in Salinas, California. I hope it brightens the day of everyone who encounters it!
When I was first asked to do this mural, as much as I wanted to do it, I had some scheduling conflicts and didn't think I would be able to take it on. But after coming to visit the facility and learning more about the work they do, I knew I had to be part of that mission. Thanks to their dedicated staff, children with serious or life-limiting illness qualify for specialized medical care and family support services. They provide relief from pain and symptoms for pediatric patients while assisting parents to address the emotional impacts of caring for a child with complex health needs. The commitment and passion of everyone I met there is incredibly inspiring, and I'm happy to say we will be doing a second mural in the near future for this incredible facility.
Thanks to my painting buddy Brenda Screttrini-Saglio for all the help (and dancing!) and the Arts Council for Monterey County for the opportunity.
